From the base of your skull to your tailbone, your spine is at the center of who you are, giving your body structure and support as it protects the spinal cord that sends signals to and from your brain. When you experience issues with the shape or growth of your spine, our team is here to help.

Spinal disorders can include:

  • Deformities present from birth
  • Conditions typically identified in adolescence, such as scoliosis
  • Degenerative conditions that affect your spine as you age
  • Injuries and illnesses that can occur at any age.

Any of these conditions can result in pain, impaired mobility, and other effects.

Spinal Surgeries and Treatments

We address spinal conditions with proven, effective surgical procedures. Here are some of the techniques performed by the experts at Monadnock Orthopaedic Associates, with a focus on minimally invasive procedures that can speed recovery time:

Cervical disc replacement

We insert an artificial disc to replace a damaged disc, while preserving range of motion.

Anterior cervical decompression and fusion

Via an incision in the front of the neck, we relieve pressure on the spinal cord and/or nerves, while stabilizing the spine by fusing together two or more vertebrae.

Laminectomy

We relieve pressure on the nerves in the lower back by enlarging the spinal canal.

Lumbar Spine Fusion

We add stability to the spine by fusing up to three vertebrae, using a minimally invasive technique with a small incision. Patients typically don’t notice any limitation in movement following the procedure.

Vertebroplasty and Kyphoplasty

With Vertebroplasty, a medical cement is injected into a cracked or broken spinal bone to relieve pain and add strength. With Kyphoplasty, space is created for the cement injection using a balloon device.
