Anticoagulation Clinic

Anticoagulation Clinic

In 2005 MCH opened an Anticoagulation Clinic for patients taking Coumadin or other anticoagulation medications. Located in the Medical Arts Building, the Clinic is staffed by two specially trained RNs. Both nurses have advanced training in Anticoagulation Therapy Management.

Because each individual responds to anticoagulation medication differently, it’s necessary to monitor the patient to make sure they are at a safe and therapeutic level. This is done using a simple blood test, which is immediately processed at the Clinic. Within a few minutes, the patient has their results to guide them in taking their medication. The nurse can then review any changes that may be affected by medication, diet, lifestyle or their health.
