Overview
May 2026 Employee of the Month: Crystal Darling

Monadnock Community Hospital is proud to recognize Crystal Darling of Environmental Services as the May 2026 Employee of the Month. This month’s recognitions also highlight employees and teams across the organization who have made a meaningful difference for patients, colleagues, and the community.

“After a busy weekend in the ED, Crystal had a smile on her face and got to work. There was a lot of linens and trash that needed to be taken care of. No matter what was asked of her she did it when she could and with a smile. Even when it’s not busy, she is always a delight to see. She’s hard working and just someone who can make anyone’s day brighter. Keep smiling and keep up the good work!”

More About Crystal

This month’s Employee of the Month is Crystal Darling from Environmental Services. Employee Enrichment Committee (EEC) member Cassidy Thibodeau met with Crystal to get to know her a little better.

Crystal is a Tech III in Environmental Services, which is a job she makes clear is more than just cleaning. Crystal finds a lot of purpose in her interactions with patients, especially on Med/Surg where she tries to make their time in the hospital as positive as it can be. She started her career at around 16 at a bed-and-breakfast. Later she worked at the Mount Washington in housekeeping and then moved to a small cleaning company that worked in organizations like banks and hospitals, introducing her to the world in which she now works. She has now been at MCH for 5 years and feels as though she has true purpose through her position here.

Crystal grew up on a mountain in Vermont and spends much of her time playing Animal Crossing and junk journaling, remarking that when she wants to know something she simply learns it, which has led to much of the crafting she does like resin work and knitting.

Crystal suggests that everyone try not to take things too seriously and, while she doesn’t usually look up to just one person, she finds herself learning and taking in something from everyone and finding inspiration from all the people she meets.

Please join us in congratulating Crystal on this well-deserved recognition.

Mary Geoffrey, Dietary

“I would like to nominate Mary Geoffery in the cafeteria for employee of the month. She always is ready, multitasking, and fun at the action station. I appreciate her jokes and laughter every day when I go down. And to go above that she always preps extra for me to bring home to my son for his dinner, and she makes sure nothing gets heated up too many times for him, or things get soggy before he eats them. She goes above and beyond all the time, making things personal for each employee who goes to her. Thank you so much Mary for all you do for us!”

Emily Guay, Monadnock Orthopedic Associates

“Emily has consistently gone above and beyond in stepping up to support the entire office. She took the initiative to thoroughly review the schedule, identifying which patients need to be seen and which can safely be rescheduled when a provider had an unexpected, last-minute absence. She also assisted the front desk by calling and rescheduling patients, ensuring continuity of care. In addition, Emily has taken on the responsibility of completing clinical chart preparation for these patients and helping with rooming, demonstrating her strong commitment to teamwork and patient care. What stands out most is her motivation, whenever she is thanked, she simply says, “I am doing it for my patients.” It’s clear that Emily is here for all the right reasons, and her dedication makes a meaningful impact on both patients and colleagues.”

The FOB was not going to be able to stay until the morning to sign papers, and they were stressed about how the paperwork would work. Bailey didn’t hesitate, ask questions, or have any grump about it, she waltzed in smiling and cheery and made this patient’s whole night. She is a rock star, and she deserves to be recognized!!!”

“On the day I was having my first cataract surgery, I was very nervous and didn’t know what to expect. When I got into pre-op Tonya was there waiting with a huge smile and a caring demeanor. She explained what I needed to do and then everything that she was doing. Another nurse came in with a computer and together they had me laughing and forgetting my fears. Tonya still remains as a very special person in that room to me. Her never-ending positivity and her obvious professional knowledge of what she was doing and needed to be done. She held my hand, touched my shoulder when I was nervous and spoke to me ever so gently with kindness and compassion. I felt safe, in good professional hands and cared for. Thank you Tonya for being that special person for me. Everyone in the Pre-op and Post-op were wonderful people. It is a department filled with great people.
