Monadnock Community Hospital is proud to recognize Dr. Michael Gilbert, Medical Director of Monadnock Gastroenterology Associates, as the September 2026 Employee of the Month. This month’s recognitions also highlight employees and teams across the organization who have made a meaningful difference for patients, colleagues, and the community.

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation for the exceptional care I received during my recent hospitalization. My experience began in Dr. Gilbert’s office, where I arrived in severe pain. Despite it being the end of a long day, the entire team went above and beyond to provide outstanding care. Every member of the staff was professional, compassionate, and reassuring during an incredibly difficult time. Dr. Gilbert is truly exceptional. His clinical expertise, empathy, and unwavering dedication to his patients are remarkable, and I am deeply grateful for the care he provided.

The Emergency Department was exceptionally busy and overwhelming that day. While I waited in significant pain, Dr. Gilbert, Izzy, and Devon continued to advocate for me and explored every possible outpatient option before determining that admission was necessary. Their persistence and commitment to finding the best path forward for my care were truly remarkable.

More About Dr. Michael Gilbert

September’s Employee of the Month is Dr. Michael Gilbert, Medical Director of Monadnock Gastroenterology Associates. Employee Enrichment Committee (EEC) member and fellow MGA employee Cassidy Thibideau interviewed Dr. Gilbert to get to know him a little better:

Dr. Gilbert grew up outside of Philly and realized early that he prefers a more rural setting. He has worked in gastroenterology since 2008 and has been on staff at MCH for 12 years and has been officially employed by MCH since 2024. He’s had a long clinical and working relationship with MCH and has always maintained these relationships with Dr. Daniel Perli and Richard Scheinblum. As Rich tells it, after years of pleading with Dr. Gilbert to sign a contract with MCH, he finally asked, “What would that look like?” and out came MGA.

Dr. Gilbert finds great meaning in getting to care for the community alongside his teams in MGA and Same Day Surgery. A previous colleague once told him that in your job, you want to do meaningful work with great people, and Dr. Gilbert notes that he finds that at this organization every day. He draws inspiration from Dr. Pierce and Dr. Cox and aspires to continue working with MCH both clinically and administratively to continue to improve our service lines.

A family man, Dr. Gilbert spends his free time with his wife, daughters, and dogs and can typically be found in a tree stand in the woods. Notoriously, he loves his Swedish Fish and muses that “everyone knows he eats very healthy.” In celebration, greet Dr. Gilbert by singing some Sammy Hagar and challenging him to do a better rendition.

Honorable Employee Recognitions

Dan Walton, Respiratory

During two recent ED shifts, I was caring for IICU patients in the ED due to Med/Surg capacity. Dan was helpful and attentive to the IICU patients, going above and beyond to not only care for the patients, but to emotionally reassure and support the family members at bedside. Whenever we need help, Dan is quick to respond and offer his experience and clinical expertise to treat our patients and keep them safe. Always ready to educate both patients and staff, Dan has a gift for making difficult concepts easier to understand. Truly a team player, Dan works well with both MCH employees, patients, and their families.

Marcel Alix, Facilities

Marcel went above and beyond his job description to help me out this morning.

My car battery died here yesterday; I got it jumped yesterday. When I went to get a new one this morning, I realized I didn’t have tools with me to change it out.

The man at Sanel suggested I speak to Marcel, so I did. He came out, cleaned the old battery off, fought with the corroded bolts and took it out, installed the new one and put the old one into my car for me!! I am SOOO very grateful to work with such caring and amazing people!

Ashley Coyle, Security

I was working the ED, we were very busy. Ashley volunteered to bring a bed down from Med/Surg to the ED. She then saw me bringing a patient upstairs and she stopped me in the hall to see if she could help, volunteering to transport the patient. When I thanked her she replied “Of course! It’s all a team effort, and I’m happy to help!” Ashley’s cheerful demeanor lights up the ED when she does her rounds. I have witnessed her remain composed and professional with combative patients, helping to calm the patients all the while keeping ED staff safe. Ashley is an amazing person all the way around and we are lucky to have her here at MCH.

1- She’s always very kind and gentle and willing to listen. She makes me feel comfortable no matter why I’m in the office.

2-Jaime was very calm and friendly

Cheryl Evans, Jaffrey Family Medicine

1- Cheryl is always attentive to my questions & concerns. I feel very comfortable sharing personal conversations with her.

2- Cheryl is wonderful. I feel very comfortable talking to her about any of my health concerns. She never makes me feel rushed. She’s a 10 out of 10!

Victoria Zimmerman, Emergency Department

Victoria responded to a medical alert. She was the first to arrive and provide immediate care to a patient experiencing a severe allergic reaction to IV contrast. She maintained a calm, professional manner while assisting the CT technologists through an intense situation. Her prompt actions saved a life. I believe she deserves the highest award and recognition for the assistance she provided.

Charlie Trimble, Security

Charlie is dedicated, responsible, and focused. He is always there to lend a helping hand. He’s trustworthy and someone I’d feel safe to come to with any problems I may have.

Val Stys, Emergency Department

1- Val in the ER was wonderful to me.

2-The ED was extremely busy with 54 patients registered. There were many critical patients and walk-ins, all relying on the great patient care that only MCH can give. The ED has been extremely busy lately and once again the staff, with collaboration from people from other areas, rose to the challenge yet again. We showed once again what makes our little hospital the best in our community at giving the utmost, best care possible to our patients.

1- Sylvia is amazing! Makes my visit pleasant and easy.

2-Sylvia is great. She certainly works to make a patient feel that they are valued. There are times when a person can be a little nervous preparing for an exam, she does her best to present a relaxing environment.

Mackenzie Ledger, Monadnock Internal Medicine

Mackenzie always greets my parents with a smile and good humor. She remembers comments from their last visit, their interests, and their conditions. Mackenzie always makes time to listen to one of Dad’s jokes or stories and compliments Mom on something she is wearing or doing. We appreciate her wonderful disposition, her grace and her caring. We hope Mackenzie is recognized for her service.

Adriana Quiroz, Radiology

Adriana could see that I needed help to transfer a patient from an ED stretcher onto a Med/Surg bed. Without being asked, she volunteered to assist with moving the patient. Adriana always goes above and beyond to help others. Always ready with a smile, she cheers up both MCH staff and patients. I can’t say enough about how wonderful it is to work with her. She truly deserves an award and recognition for her positive contributions to this organization.

Kylie Cote, EVS

Kylie always has a positive attitude! Every day at 4pm she drives the floor scrubber around Med Surg. This is not an easy job! She has to work around lots of equipment and people, but she does a great job going out of her way to make this process as least disruptive as possible. An example of this is the other day I was in my office on the phone when she started cleaning. She saw I was on the phone, stopped what she was doing, got off the machine, and quietly shut my office door to make sure I was not being disrupted. This truly was going above and beyond to be a team player! She is very considerate of those around her and not only does her job well but ensures everyone else is able to do theirs as well!

Honorable Group Recognitions

Alice Hollomon, Chun Kaelin & Mitsuko Savage, Laboratory

I had an appointment to have labs drawn. I preregistered, signed consent, found the lab, there I was greeted by Alice, Mitsuko, and Chun. They were polite and extremely helpful. They called the Dr office, got my lab orders, and I was able to have my blood work done. This was so helpful as I didn’t have to make another trip. Thank you

Once I arrived on the Med Surg unit, I was met with an exceptional level of care. The environment was calm, clean, and conducive to healing, and being placed in a quiet and comfortable room made an immediate difference in my recovery. Every nurse I encountered provided outstanding care. They were clinically excellent, attentive, compassionate, and deeply committed to their patients. They anticipated my needs, managed my care seamlessly, stayed ahead of my pain management needs, and responded promptly whenever assistance was required. Because of them, I always felt safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. Every interaction reflected a culture of kindness, teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to patients.

Each recognition reflects the meaningful ways MCH employees support patients, families, colleagues, and the broader hospital community. From providing compassionate care and thoughtful guidance to supporting complex transitions, mentoring future health care workers, and strengthening teamwork across departments, these employees help make MCH a welcoming and trusted place to receive care and to work.
