Brian Stimpson, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Monadnock Community Hospital (MCH), has been named Medical Assistant of the Year by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), recognizing his longstanding commitment to his profession, colleagues, and patients.

With nearly 900,000 medical assistants working nationwide, this national recognition is a significant achievement for Stimpson and a point of pride for MCH.

Stimpson received the award during the AAMA’s 70th annual conference in Reno, Nevada, on September 14, 2026. Approximately 500 medical assistants and other healthcare professionals attended the conference. The recognition came as a surprise to Stimpson, who said he was taken aback when his name was announced.

A Commitment to His Profession

Nominated by the New Hampshire State Society of Medical Assistants, Stimpson was recognized for his contributions to the medical assisting profession. He has been an AAMA member for 13 years and has served on the association’s boards and committees since 2016.

He currently chairs the AAMA’s Conference Continuing Education Task Force and helped plan and support this year’s conference.

“I want to thank all of the medical assistants on my team at Monadnock Orthopaedic Associates (MOA) and the management team at MCH for supporting me while I am out of the office, representing medical assistants on the committees I serve on,” Stimpson said. “I couldn’t do it without them.”

Finding His Place at MCH

Stimpson has worked as a Certified Medical Assistant for 13 years, gaining experience in several specialties, including neurology, dermatology, pediatrics, and orthopaedics.

He first joined MCH in 2021 at Antrim Medical Group. After briefly leaving to explore orthopaedics at a practice in Manchester, he returned to MCH in February 2026 and now works at Monadnock Orthopaedic Associates.

Before becoming a medical assistant, Stimpson worked in home care, including IV therapy and durable medical equipment. He also served in the U.S. Army for 13 years.

“Once I became a medical assistant, I realized this is what I was missing my whole life,” he said.

Stimpson credits the supportive environment at MCH as an important reason for returning.

“I felt really supported here and felt like I was part of the family,” he said. “I felt that both times I started here.”

Supporting Medical Assistants Beyond MCH

Medical assistants play an important role in healthcare teams, helping support patient care and the daily operations of medical practices.

Through his clinical work and involvement with the AAMA, Stimpson has dedicated his career to advancing education and professional development opportunities for medical assistants.

His recognition reflects years of service and advocacy at MCH, throughout New Hampshire, and nationally.

Monadnock Community Hospital congratulates Brian on this well-deserved honor and thanks him for his dedication to colleagues, patients, and the medical assisting profession.
