A Fresh New Look for Exceptional Care

Monadnock Community Hospital (MCH) is excited to announce the completion of major renovations to our Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) Unit. As part of our ongoing commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, these upgrades create a more comfortable, efficient, and healing-focused environment for our patients, families, and staff. 

From expanded therapy spaces to a brighter, modern design throughout the unit, every change was made with safety, comfort, and recovery in mind. 

What's New in Our Med Surg Department?

Therapy Team Expansion:

Our physical, occupational, and speech therapy teams now have a dedicated double office right on the unit. This proximity enhances collaboration and allows therapists to deliver faster, more personalized care. Just steps away, Room 215 has been transformed into a functional therapy gym, complete with stair training and mobility support to help patients regain independence before going home.

New ADA Shower and Tub Rooms:

We added a wheelchair-accessible shower and updated the tub room. These spaces give patients the opportunity to practice bathing safely, promoting dignity and confidence before discharge.

Improved Nurses’ Station and Workflow:

Our nurses’ station has doubled in size, offering more workstations, enhanced cardiac monitoring, and an electronic assignment board that improves real-time communication. These updates allow staff to provide safer, more coordinated care.

Dedicated Space for Unit Coordinators:

A small office was opened near the nurses’ station, giving our unit coordinators more efficient access to computers, printers, and fax machines, all while enhancing visitor support.

Enhanced Patient Rooms and Common Areas:

Every patient room features fresh paint, calming accent walls, and single-occupancy privacy, supporting a restful healing process. Unit-wide, new flooring, updated siderails, and modern finishes create a cleaner, more inviting space. In addition, patients can now personalize their space with the new Art a la Carte program—selecting from a curated collection of artwork to display in their room. These rotating art pieces bring comfort, calm, and a touch of beauty to the healing environment. 

Updates to the Waiting Room and Discharge Lounge:

Families will appreciate the new furniture, flooring, and privacy screen in our waiting areas, creating a comfortable place to visit or relax while waiting for transportation.
