Rosamond’s care brought several MCH teams together

Brian Kwitkin, MD, and the team at Monadnock Surgical Associates repaired her hernia. Vache Hambardzumyan, MD, PhD, of Monadnock Orthopaedic Associates provided orthopaedic and spine care. Rosamond also received primary care from Jennifer Civitella, MD, and Nurse Practitioner Meliea Miller at Antrim Medical Group before beginning physical therapy with Kathy Scott of the MCH Rehabilitation Department.

Rosamond credits the collaboration and communication among her care teams as an important part of her recovery.

“All good and positive outcomes are a team effort.”

How MCH supported the community

As a nonprofit hospital, MCH invests in services and programs that strengthen access to care, assist patients experiencing financial hardship, and respond to local health needs.

Subsidized health services: $19,600,000

Essential services such as emergency care, behavioral health, and chronic health programs often cost more to provide than they generate in reimbursement. MCH absorbs these costs to help keep the services available.

Public programs support: $5,935,000

MCH covered the difference between the cost of care and reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid, helping maintain access for older adults, people with disabilities, and others who rely on public insurance.

Community programs: $715,000

Programs such as Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Parent Support Services brought care, education, and support directly into homes and communities.

Charity care: $681,000

MCH’s Financial Assistance Program helped eligible patients and families cover the cost of medically necessary care.

In-kind donations: $308,000

MCH provided training, meeting space, and other resources to local organizations and emergency response partners, including EMT training.

Responding to community health needs

MCH’s 2024 Community Health Needs Assessment identified mental health services, crisis care, transportation, and housing among the region’s highest-priority needs.

In 2025, MCH launched the Collaborative Care Model through Monadnock Health Partners. The model connects mental health support directly with primary care, improving access to behavioral health services through a familiar care setting.

MCH also offered 10 free health and wellness seminars, drawing 143 registrations. Among post-seminar survey respondents, 86.8% rated their experience excellent or very good, 100% rated staff extremely or very friendly, and the seminar series earned a Net Promoter Score of 69.

Medical-Surgical Unit renovation

The Medical-Surgical Unit renovation, completed in 2025, included a centralized therapy workspace and a new therapy gym with stairs and mobility equipment. A new ADA-compliant shower and renovated tub room help patients prepare to return home.

Improvements at the nurses’ station included enhanced cardiac monitoring, additional workspace, and a digital assignment board. Patient rooms, common areas, the waiting room, and the discharge lounge were also updated.

Art à la Carte

The new Art à la Carte program allows patients in the Medical-Surgical Unit to choose artwork for their rooms. Volunteers, staff, and members of the Healing Arts Gallery Committee work together to support the program.

Clinical milestones

Two MCH physicians reached important career milestones in 2025.

Michael Gilbert, MD, completed his 2,000th gastroenterology procedure. In January, Vache Hambardzumyan, MD, PhD, completed his 100th minimally invasive spine surgery at MCH.

These are cumulative career milestones reached during 2025, not annual procedure totals.

A record number of employees participated in the 2025 Employee Giving Campaign, raising more than $24,000 for hospital programs, services, and resources.

In September, the 29th Annual Fall Foliage Golf Classic brought 136 golfers, 28 sponsors, and 25 volunteers to Crotched Mountain Golf Club in Francestown. The event raised a record $90,480 for the Financial Assistance Program, which helps approximately 1,800 patients each year with medical expenses.
