At Monadnock Community Hospital, we are proud to share our Heartfelt Stories featuring inspiring testimonials from our patients, employees, volunteers, donors, and community members. Providing care to patients without the means to pay has always been part of the MCH mission. In 1925, the Trustees voted to establish a fund expressly for “the care of children who may be identified as needy.” Today, MCH’s Community Benefit Program provides financial assistance to patients of all ages – patients like Francis Savoie.

Several years ago, Francis, a single dad who drove an oil truck for a living, was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disc disease. Suddenly, at the age of 42, he was permanently disabled.

Francis was able to reduce his pain through regular infusion treatments at MCH’s Oncology and Infusion Center, but his medical bills were a financial hardship.

“The infusion treatments really helped,” he says, “but I had trouble affording my co-pays. MCH helped me through their Financial Assistance Program.”

“The staff at MCH, they’re good people,” says Francis. “They fought for me, and never let me down. Disability is hard to accept, but the kindness and care I receive at MCH gives me the support and courage to go on.”
