A grateful patient reflects on the care that helped her regain comfort and confidence.

For generations, people in the Monadnock region have turned to Monadnock Community Hospital with trust in the care they will receive close to home. Betty Shea is one of those neighbors, and her story reflects how meaningful that care can be.

A lifelong Jaffrey resident, Betty has relied on MCH throughout her life for regular checkups, past procedures, and, most recently, a spinal surgery that changed her daily comfort and mobility. When she suddenly experienced severe back pain last spring, she was reassured by the calm and capable team in the Emergency Department. Diagnostic imaging revealed a pinched nerve, and surgery offered the best chance for long-term relief.

Betty shared how supported she felt as her orthopedic surgeon explained each step and answered every question. She described the entire team as “dependable, efficient, and most thorough.” Just six weeks after the procedure, she was back to enjoying light activity and feeling more like herself again.

“I can’t say enough for Dr. Vache’s wonderful abilities,” she shared.

Stories like Betty’s highlight the difference that local, expert care can make, especially for those who want to remain active, independent, and close to family. Community support helps ensure that patients today and tomorrow can rely on MCH for compassionate, high-quality care.
