Understanding Health Insurance Starts with Understanding the Basics

Join us for a free, plain-language guide to understanding your health insurance.

Copays, deductibles, coinsurance, prior authorization: the vocabulary of health insurance can make a confusing system feel even more out of reach. Monadnock Community Hospital is hosting a free Health & Wellness Seminar, Your Guide to Health Insurance Basics, on Thursday, August 27, at 5:30 p.m., to walk through these terms in plain, everyday language.

This educational session is designed to help community members better understand how health insurance works. Presenters Karen Aucella, Lisa McInnis, CPC-A, and Molly Rajaniemi, MBA, CHC, will explain common insurance terms, including copays, coinsurance, deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, and prior authorization, in clear, everyday language.

Attendees will also learn how to read medical bills, better understand insurance coverage details, and navigate the healthcare system with greater confidence. The presentation will include practical examples and an opportunity to ask questions.

Whether you’re choosing health insurance for the first time, reviewing your current coverage, helping a loved one understand their insurance, or simply looking to become a more informed healthcare consumer, this seminar offers valuable information in a welcoming, supportive environment.
