Supporting New Parents and Babies in the Greater Monadnock Region with Free Home Visits and Health Services
Whether you are expecting your first baby or your fifth, the Healthy Beginnings Program is here to support you through the exciting and challenging journey of parenthood. Developed by highly trained community paramedics as part of the Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) program, Healthy Beginnings provides home visits before and after childbirth to help ensure the health of both parent and baby.
What We Offer:
During these home visits, our community paramedics will:
- Evaluate the health of the birthing parent, including blood pressure checks and post-partum depression screening.
- Provide newborn weight checks and guidance on newborn care.
- Connect families to essential community resources and social support.
- Offer newborn home safety evaluations, covering safe sleeping practices and age-appropriate development.
- Encourage and reassure new parents with practical advice and resources to navigate the challenges of early parenthood.
Who is Eligible?
All individuals giving birth at Monadnock Community Hospital (MCH) are automatically enrolled in the Healthy Beginnings Program. If you decide not to participate, you may opt out at any time. If you initially opt out but later change your mind, services can be resumed by contacting us.

- Do I need to receive prenatal care with Monadnock OB/GYN to participate?
Yes, enrollment requires that you receive your prenatal care from Monadnock OB/GYN and plan to give birth at MCH. - Is there a cost?
No, visits from the Healthy Beginnings Program are provided at no cost to participants. - Do you have to be a New Hampshire resident to participate?
Yes, MIH is only licensed in New Hampshire and cannot provide services across state lines. - How many visits will I receive?
Typically, participants receive two visits before and two visits after the baby is born.
