Sticking with and committing to physical therapy and home exercise programs will help you regain strength in that surgical arm, and resume normal activities again.In the early stages of recovery your range of motion is extremely limited. Once cleared to begin driving again start with short drives or in a parking lot to make sure you are indeed safe behind the wheel. Helpful tips: Walking every day will help blood flow and prevent any constipation you may experience from opioid medication, it also helps prevent pneumonia Use of a shower chair and removable shower head will be helpful during bathing, and minimize your risk for falling in the shower Use of soaps in pumps will be easier to use one handed Loose-fitting clothing will be easiest to put on and over your sling.Shirts with zippers or buttons on the front alleviate putting clothing over your head and putting your arm through a sleeve at an awkward angle. Shoes that can be put on with one hand, preferable without laces, will be easiest to put on in the early post-operative stage.Slip on shoes will be the easiest.Keep frequently used items within reach.
