b'AT HOMEWound care For the first 10 to 14 days, keep the wound clean and dry. oThere is a strong emphasis on maintaining post-operative guidelines as you manage pain and swelling oYou may shower with Prineo (mesh cover over the surgical incision) in place. oDo not submerge the incision under water (no bath, no hot tub, etc.) for two weeks. oYou may shower and let water run over your shoulder. BandagesThe soft outer-layer of bandage can be removed 1 day after surgery.Prineo mesh, a covering over the surgical incision, is waterproof and should stay in place for 3 weeks to 1 month after surgery.Wear your sling continuously for 3 to 4 weeks. MedicationsTake all medications as directed by the doctor or physicians assistant. oAdded medications may include: narcotics, non-narcotics pain pills, oral or injectable blood thinners, stool softeners, and anti-nausea medications. Management of Pain and Swelling Mild to moderate swelling is normal for the first 3-6 months after surgery. oUse an ice pack or Cryocuff (if provided) several times a day for 20 minutes at a time. oBest done after your exercises and as neededoBe sure to frequently check the skin beneath the ice pack for irritation, and remove the ice if irritation occurs.
