The program stands out for its comprehensive approach to healthcare delivery, particularly in rural areas.
Key highlights of the award-winning program include:
- Providing primary care patient services
- Sending community paramedics directly to patients' homes
- Offering services like wound care and vaccinations
According to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, this program is remarkably effective. In 2022, it represented 49 percent of total visits across the state's 12 Mobile Integrated Healthcare programs, making it one of the busiest in New Hampshire.
Sean Burke, The Sentinel's president and COO, praised the program for "meeting a dire need in our community" by reaching patients where they are and improving both health and social factors.
The award was accepted by Joshua Patrick, lead community paramedic clinician, and Karen Bednarski, dispatcher, highlighting the team's crucial role in addressing healthcare gaps in the Monadnock Region.

Mary, an 86-year-old former nurse, initially began volunteering after a 50-year career at the hospital, inspired by her mother who also worked there as a nurse. She now contributes primarily to the hospital's human resources department, welcoming new employees and fostering a supportive community. Senator Hassan praises Mary's dedication and her embodiment of the "Granite State spirit" - a commitment to service and making a difference regardless of age. Mary's story highlights the positive impact individuals can have through volunteering and community involvement.
