(Manchester & Peterborough, NH) – GraniteOne Health is pleased to announce that members Catholic Medical Center (CMC) Physician Practice Associates and Monadnock Community Hospital (MCH) Physicians have been named to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Physician Group Honor Roll. CMC and MCH are the only New Hampshire organizations on the 16th annual list. The Honor Roll reflects exceptional performance in areas of adult and pediatric acute, chronic, and preventative care. Harvard Pilgrim identifies these physician groups by measuring 15 different metrics against national standards from the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®). Examples include appropriate treatment for children with upper respiratory infection, including comprehensive diabetes care, and breast cancer screening. Physician groups that score in the top quartile are named to the Honor Roll. “Primary care is one of the most important and lasting services a healthcare organization can deliver,” says Dr. Keith Stahl, Executive Medical Director for CMC Primary Care and GraniteOne Health Trustee. “When forming GraniteOne, it was clear that Monadnock shares CMC’s commitment to the highest-quality primary care experience. The HPHC Physician Group Honor Roll affirms that we are delivering on that commitment.” “Primary care forms the foundation from which all of healthcare is built,” says Dr. Luc Shippee, Medical Director for Monadnock Health Partners at MCH. “This recognition is a testimony to our shared values in promoting outstanding patient-clinician relationships and reflects the hard work and dedication of our primary care team. Together, we truly are forming a health system that’s greater than the sum of its parts.” CMC Primary Care practices are located throughout the greater Manchester area, while Monadnock Community Hospital practices serve patients in the Monadnock region. This filing comes after an extensive period of due diligence, approval of the agreement by all three hospital boards, and, with respect to CMC, approval of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Manchester. CMC previously announced a Letter of Intent (LOI) to affiliate with Huggins Hospital in November, 2015 and an LOI with Monadnock Community Hospital in January, 2016. The agreement being reviewed by regulators will result in a more integrated healthcare system to serve the hospitals’ respective communities.“This New Hampshire‐based, New Hampshire‐focused collaboration allows us to effectively use our resources and expertise to improve quality, cost, and access to health care,” said Dr. Joseph Pepe, President & CEO of Catholic Medical Center. “It builds on the long and successful existing clinical relationships between CMC and these two, strong critical access hospitals.” The affiliation is not an acquisition as no assets will be exchanged, nor is it a merger as staffs and physicians will continue to work for their respective hospitals. The affiliation allows for Huggins and Monadnock Community Hospitals to forge stronger ties in clinical partnerships with CMC, as well as leverage their resources to build economies of scale. The goals of this affiliation include providing quality care at a lower cost with added services and a seamless patient experience. “We are excited to move forward in ensuring quality health care stays close to home,” said Jeremy Roberge, Interim President & CEO of Huggins Hospital. “CMC and Huggins Hospital have been working together for many years to improve access to cardiology and vascular care for our patients and, in the last month, have begun collaborating on shared hospitalists.” Similar collaborations have also existed for years between CMC and Monadnock Community Hospital (MCH), which also work together on neurology and laboratory services. “We have successfully met the healthcare needs of the Monadnock region for 90 years,” said Cynthia McGuire, President & CEO of MCH. “This affiliation is a logical and strategic step to ensure that access to local, high‐quality health care continues and grows for many years to come.” Under the terms of the Affiliation Agreement, CMC, Huggins, and MCH will continue to operate with assets and liabilities remaining unchanged. Huggins and MCH will continue to be secular, non‐profit community hospitals, and CMC will continue operating as a Catholic, non‐profit acute healthcare system. The hospitals will maintain separate Boards as well as their respective charitable missions, values and traditions. Philanthropic gifts given to each hospital will be used to benefit their local community. Hospitals’ names, logos, and staff will remain. An overarching non‐profit system parent called GraniteOne Health will ensure strategic direction and initiatives for the affiliated system. The regulatory approval process will include further opportunities for comment by the general public and stakeholders of the three hospitals. Information is available through each hospital’s website, as well as on the website for GraniteOne Health (www.graniteonehealth.org). It is expected the affiliation will be approved and fully executed by the end of the year. Gingras, Monadnock Community Hospital 603-924-4666, Laura.Gingras@mchmail.org Michelle Marshall, Catholic Medical Center 603-663-8164, mmarshall@cmc-nh.org Sharing a common commitment to providing high quality and value-based care for the benefit of their communities and building upon the foundation of a long history of collaboration together, Catholic Medical Center (“CMC”) and Monadnock Community Hospital (“MCH”) have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (“LOI”) to explore an affiliation which will result in a more fully integrated, New Hampshire-based healthcare system. “CMC and MCH have been working together for many years to improve access to cardiology and vascular care to patients in the Monadnock region. More recently, we have expanded our clinical partnership with CMC to include neurology and have been sharing hospitalists and laboratory services” said Cynthia McGuire, President & CEO of MCH. “This next step of organizational collaboration will enable greater utilization of collective resources and expertise which will improve the quality, cost and access to care as well as enhance overall patient satisfaction” said Dr. Joseph Pepe, President & CEO of CMC. In early 2015 MCH requested proposals from numerous healthcare organizations as potential partners for affiliation. CMC was viewed as the best organization to affiliate with because past experiences and partnerships were positive and demonstrate a record of shared culture, values and successful collaboration. Maintaining each organization’s respective charitable missions, values and traditions is also a priority. “The LOI proposes a structure which will permit CMC and MCH to each operate much in the same way that they have been operating,” explains Dr. Pepe. “MCH will continue operating as a secular, non-profit community hospital, and CMC will continue operating as a Catholic, non-profit acute healthcare system. “We have successfully met the healthcare needs of the Monadnock region for 90 years and we are excited to take the next step to ensure we are well-positioned to keep quality healthcare close to home for years to come,” noted Ms. McGuire. The next steps in the affiliation process include the negotiation of a definitive agreement, a mutual due diligence process, final approval of the respective hospital boards and, with respect to CMC, the approval of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Manchester. There is a state and federal regulatory approval process as well. Throughout this process there will be numerous opportunities for comment by the general public and stakeholders of both hospitals. CMC and MCH are working diligently to complete the affiliation within the next 12 months. ABOUT CMC: CMC is 330-bed acute care hospital located in Manchester, New Hampshire with 2,500 employees and over 700 physicians, specialists and other providers working together to serve the health care needs of patients in Manchester and throughout New Hampshire. CMC is home to the nationally recognized New England Heart & Vascular Institute and is a Truven Analytics “Top 50 in the Nation” Cardiovascular Hospital. CMC was also named the 2015 Healthcare Business of the Year by Business NH Magazine. Monadnock Community Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital offering medical, surgical and Intensive Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Mental Health services. In addition, a wide variety of outpatient services are available, including an extensive Primary Care Network, Wellness, Cardiac and Physical Rehabilitation Services, 24-hour Emergency Care, a fully equipped laboratory and an extensive Radiology department.
