[post_content] => It's an exciting milestone year for Monadnock Community Hospital as it celebrates its 100th anniversary! Over the past century there have been many inspiring stories shared from those who were born at the hospital, patients who received excellent care, and employees who call the hospital their home away from home. This heartwarming story encapsulates it all, truly coming full circle.
Monadnock Community Hospital is delighted to introduce Jackie Coll, who has been a member of the hospital's dedicated team for over a decade. Born as a twin in the maternity ward of MCH in the 80s, she later gave birth to both of her children in MCH’s Birthing Suite. Jackie started with the organization at New Ipswich Family Medicine, however, after a slight career change she took a new role in a different capacity. As a member of the Information Technology team, her office is now the room that she was born in!
“When our OB unit changed locations within MCH, the old unit rooms were transformed into offices that now house MCH’s IT department where I currently work,” Jackie explains. “The excitement of MCH’s 100th year anniversary inspired my mom and I to look at my old birth photos. To our incredible surprise my office is the very room I started life in! It brings me great honor to work in such a wonderful hospital that has always been and continues to be an enormous part of my life.”
With a background in nursing and information technology, Jackie brings a wealth of experience and a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of patients. This remarkable journey from birth to professional fulfillment encapsulates the hospital's commitment to nurturing and supporting individuals at every stage of life.
"This is a rare and wonderful occurrence," says Cyndee McGuire, President and CEO of Monadnock Community Hospital. "To have an individual born within our walls return years later to work in the same room where they were first cared for as an infant is a testament to the deep-rooted connections that our hospital fosters within the community."
The hospital's centennial year continues to be a time of reflection, gratitude, and forward-looking initiatives. As Monadnock Community Hospital remains committed to providing exceptional care and support to the community, Jackie’s story embodies the spirit of healthcare excellence, community engagement, and compassionate service that has defined the hospital for the past 100 years. Jackie's journey serves as a reminder that the bonds formed within these walls extend far beyond the walls themselves.

[post_content] => 100 years ago today we opened our doors to care for our community and what better way to celebrate than with our 8th Annual DAISY Award Ceremony!
MCH is a part of more than 5,400 healthcare facilities and schools around the globe who participate in the DAISY Award program, which honors nurses who demonstrate excellence and provide extraordinary compassionate care to their patients and families.
This year, 14 individual nurses and all of the nurses of the Medical Surgical Unit were nominated by either a patient, family member or colleague.
We are so pleased to announce that the 2023 DAISY Award Winners are Donna Infante, RN and Clayton Kuusisto, RN both of the Sarah Hogate Bacon Emergency Department. It is the skilled care and dedication to exceptional nursing that has sustained MCH for 100 years!
Join us in congratulating the nominees and winners!

[post_content] => On Thursday May 25th 2023, Monadnock Community Hospital had the pleasure of recognizing the region’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers in celebration of National EMS Week which was from May 21-27. Providers from Antrim Fire and Ambulance, Dublin Fire Department, Francestown Fire Department, Greenfield Fire Department, Hancock Fire Department, Jaffrey Fire Department, Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, New Ipswich Fire Department, Peterborough Fire and Rescue, Rindge Fire Department, Souhegan Valley Ambulance, and Temple Fire Department attended the evening’s event at the Monadnock Country Club, where they were honored as vital members of the community. Doctors, physician assistants, and nurses from the MCH Emergency Department were there as well to celebrate their colleagues and friends.
Cyndee McGuire, president and CEO of Monadnock Community Hospital, recognized all of the hard work the local EMS providers do every day. She quoted Fred Rogers from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood by saying “Fred Rogers is famous for his advice, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ I look out tonight at a sea of helpers. You are often first on the scene to care for people in their greatest time of need. The dedication you have for our neighbors and loved ones is incredibly admirable and we are lucky to have you all as a part of our MCH Family and our community.”
Lauren Morton, Physician Assistant, and a leader in the MCH Emergency Room, thanked everyone for their tireless efforts and for continually giving so much of themselves to help the lives of others. She then had the privilege of presenting the 2023 EMS Lifetime Achievement Award to New Ipswich Fire Department’s Chief Meredith Lund.
Chief Lund, who is soon retiring after over 30 years of service to our community, moved up the ranks in this male dominated profession. She started her career with Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service and later became the first female on the New Ipswich Fire Department team. In 2016 she was voted in as the Chief becoming one of only four female Fire Chiefs in the state of New Hampshire and the first in New Ipswich. Chief Lund was surprised and moved by this award and she presented an inspiring acceptance speech with a brief overview of her career. She shared that she is retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren and to travel the country as she continues her work fighting wildfires. She thanked all of her colleagues and friends in the room, some of whom she taught when she was an instructor with the NH Fire Academy & EMS, while others she began her training with in the early 1990s and has been friends with ever since.
The Annual EMS Recognition event was the first one held since 2019 (before the pandemic) and Monadnock Community Hospital was pleased to be able to honor the community Emergency Medical Services this way.

[0] => How do you measure a milestone? One obvious way for an organization like MCH to mark 100 years is to point out all of the advances we have made over our first century, from new technology to construction projects. These things are impressive, and worth celebrating; you can see some of them elsewhere in this report. But what really makes a hospital isn’t equipment or buildings, no matter how remarkable they are.
The real heart of Monadnock Community Hospital is our people.
The people who make up MCH today have skills, tools, and technology that our first staff members in 1923 could barely imagine. Yet we are connected directly to everyone who came before us by values that haven’t changed at all - a deep commitment to caring for our patients and our community, to ensure that the towns of the Monadnock Region have local access to great healthcare they can be proud of.

[0] => Thank you to all of our employees who work on the front lines or behind the scenes; our clinicians and nurses who provide extraordinary medical care; the teams who keep our hospital clean, make nutritious meals, work in our offices and maintain our beautiful buildings. You are living the legacy of everyone who came before you here, and setting an example for those who will come after. You are an invaluable part of our history, a history that is being written every day. You truly are Monadnock Community Hospital.
