b'SURGERY DAY IS FINALLY HERE! The night before and day of your surgery, be sure you use your chlorhexidine wash per instructions. Follow your fasting instructions. Bring your walker and your blood band. A nurse from the OR will meet with you on the morning of surgery.Anesthesia After admission, you will be evaluated by a member of the anesthesia team. This procedure can be performed under general or regionalanesthesia: oRegional (spinal) anesthesia numbs you below the waist. oGeneral anesthesia puts you to sleep. Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will discuss which anesthetic option is the best for you.Procedure Your procedure will take approximately 60-90 minutes. oYour surgeon will remove the damaged cartilage and bone. oThen your new metal, plastic, or ceramic implants will be positioned.
