Securing a Legacy of Compassionate Care: Explore Planned Giving with The Parmelee Society

Your will or estate plan is a testament to your values and aspirations. For many, the inclusion of charitable giving in these plans is a powerful way to contribute to a better world for future generations. Planned Gifts come in various sizes, ranging from $1,000 to $1,000,000 or more, providing individuals with diverse options for making a lasting impact. These options include making a bequest, utilizing retirement plan assets, exploring charitable gift annuities, donating real estate, or even using stocks and mutual funds for charitable contributions.

The Parmelee Society: Honoring Your Commitment to Community Health

The Parmelee Society is a distinguished group that recognizes and honors individuals who have chosen to include Monadnock Community Hospital (MCH) in their will or estate plan. Embracing a legacy that spans a hundred years, this society embodies a commitment to supporting community healthcare, mirroring the spirit of philanthropy displayed by Mr. Robert Parmelee in 1919. Mr. Parmelee's legacy began when he generously donated his summer home to the town of Peterborough, establishing the inaugural "Peterboro Hospital" in memory of his late wife, Alice. Today, the Parmelee Society carries forward this tradition of altruism.

A Tradition of Appreciation and Recognition: Benefits of Including MCH in your Will or Estate Planning

As a valued member of The Parmelee Society, you will experience a host of benefits, including a special invitation to our annual Parmelee Society reception. This exclusive event provides an opportunity to connect with our hospital leaders and Trustees, fostering a sense of community among like-minded individuals dedicated to advancing healthcare in the Monadnock Region. In addition to the reception, Parmelee Society members are duly recognized in our Annual Report and prominently displayed on our giving wall in the main lobby. This public acknowledgment serves as a testament to your commitment and inspires others to follow in your philanthropic footsteps. Laura Gingras

            [0] => For most of her adult life, Mary Bock of Temple had a fear of doctors and hospitals. “I struggled with any kind of medical procedure—even something as simple as an exam. Needless to say, that meant that I neglected my health for many years.” After finally mustering the courage to see a doctor, Mary’s worst fears came to light. In December 2016, she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, also known as uterine cancer.

Determined to fight with everything she had, Mary had her surgery performed at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and eight weeks later, started chemotherapy at Monadnock Community Hospital. “It took only one visit to the Oncology and Infusion Therapy Center to give me the warm, welcoming, and confident feelings that last to this day,” says Mary. “So many people have to travel long distances to get this kind of care.”
At MCH, Mary was under the care of hematology oncologist, Dr. Robert Pritchard. “Dr. Pritchard is a wonderful doctor who always encouraged me to ask questions. He also has a great sense of humor, which is so welcome when you face these kinds of challenges.”
With her cancer now in remission, Mary looks back fondly on her experience at MCH. “The compassion and professionalism of every single staff member was unfailing. I’ve told friends and family that it was like swimming in an ocean of love. That may sound corny, but every single visit exceeded my expectations. To this day, when I drive into the parking lot at MCH, I get a big smile on my face.” Pictured left to right: Patient Mary Bock (center) with Oncology and Infusion Therapy Center staff members (left to right) Maria Brown, Medical Assistant; Michelle Christmas, Office Assistant; Patrick Sullivan, RN; and Sue Jackson, RN, Clinical Nurse Manager ) [_page_sections_2_wysiwyg] => Array ( [0] => field_5a79c5dfc5cca ) [page_sections_2_width] => Array ( [0] => normal ) [_page_sections_2_width] => Array ( [0] => field_5af99fbbc9de1 ) [page_sections_3_source] => Array ( [0] => custom ) [_page_sections_3_source] => Array ( [0] => field_5ab1224eb0c41 ) [page_sections_3_media] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_3_media] => Array ( [0] => field_5a85aa20a5037 ) [page_sections_3_title] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_3_title] => Array ( [0] => field_5abea1d35adb6 ) [page_sections_3_content] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_3_content] => Array ( [0] => field_5abea1dd5adb7 ) [page_sections_3_actions] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_3_actions] => Array ( [0] => field_5abea1e65adb8 ) [page_sections_3_media_side] => Array ( [0] => default ) [_page_sections_3_media_side] => Array ( [0] => field_5ab25d75e9b09 ) [page_sections_4_source] => Array ( [0] => custom ) [_page_sections_4_source] => Array ( [0] => field_5ab1224eb0c41 ) [page_sections_4_media] => Array ( [0] => A hospital infusion room with a comfortable chair near a large window, providing a serene and calming atmosphere for patients receiving treatment ) [_page_sections_4_media] => Array ( [0] => field_5a85aa20a5037 ) [page_sections_4_title] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_4_title] => Array ( [0] => field_5abea1d35adb6 ) [page_sections_4_content] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_4_content] => Array ( [0] => field_5abea1dd5adb7 ) [page_sections_4_actions] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_4_actions] => Array ( [0] => field_5abea1e65adb8 ) [page_sections_4_media_side] => Array ( [0] => default ) [_page_sections_4_media_side] => Array ( [0] => field_5ab25d75e9b09 ) [page_sections_5_section_title] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_5_section_title] => Array ( [0] => field_5a79c51c87bb0 ) [page_sections_5_section_text] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_5_section_text] => Array ( [0] => field_5ad4c99e98b3b ) [page_sections_5_posts_selection] => Array ( [0] => auto_taxonomy_terms ) [_page_sections_5_posts_selection] => Array ( [0] => field_5e99c1d934e7f ) [page_sections_5_post_type] => Array ( [0] => post ) [_page_sections_5_post_type] => Array ( [0] => field_5e99c7a534e80 ) [page_sections_5_taxonomy] => Array ( [0] => tag ) [_page_sections_5_taxonomy] => Array ( [0] => field_5e99c7e134e82 ) [page_sections_5_terms] => Array ( [0] => patient stories, oncology and infusion center, thriving seniors, leisure retirees, community stewards philanthropy, legacy builders philanthropy ) [_page_sections_5_terms] => Array ( [0] => field_5e99c82334e83 ) [page_sections_5_posts_limit] => Array ( [0] => 30 ) [_page_sections_5_posts_limit] => Array ( [0] => field_5e99c85934e84 ) [page_sections_6_section_title] => Array ( [0] => ) [_page_sections_6_section_title] => Array ( [0] => field_5ada5134d3021 ) [page_sections_6_wysiwyg] => Array ( [0] =>
