2018 Report to Our Community l 7 Jaffrey's Bill Schofield is helping men in the Monadnock Region seek the emotional support they need. NEARLY 44 MILLION adults in the U.S. experience some form of mental illness in a given year and another 20 million will struggle with substance misuse. However, only about 40% of those folks will seek and receive treatment, reinforcing the stigma that surrounds behavioral health. Monadnock Behavioral Health is hoping to change the negative perception of mental health. In 2015, MCH conducted a Community Health Needs Assessment. The top four needs fell directly under the behavioral health umbrella, a term that includes both mental health and substance misuse. MCH has taken a comprehensive approach to improving behavioral health and wellness in the communities we serve. The Monadnock Behavioral Health practice provides outpatient services with two psychiatrists, a psychologist, and four licensed social workers. In addition to seeing patients in the Monadnock Behavioral Health practice, the licensed social workers are an active member of the patient care team. They collaborate with clinicians to provide services directly to patients in the primary care setting. Monadnock Behavioral Health is removing the stigma through increased access to behavioral health services to meet a critical need in our community. stigma REMOVING THE Behavioral Health visits FY 2016 & FY 2017 Depression 4,230 Anxiety 3,783 Bipolar 1,359 ADD/ADHD 988 Sleep-Related 776 Medication Management Assistance 627 PTSD 498 Schizophrenia 412 OCD 291
