Meet Our Team

Whitney Hightower, Outpatient Registered Dietitian

Whitney HightowerWhitney Hightower, Outpatient Registered Dietitian at Monadnock Community Hospital, is a member of the Nutrition Services team. She spends her days providing nutrition counseling to patients, leading group education classes, and community presentations. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nutritional Science from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Whitney came to New England for her dietetic internship at Keene State College in Keene, NH in 2012 and fell in love with the region.

As a dietitian with over nine years of experience in the field of nutrition and dietetics, Whitney has special expertise in nutrition counseling for behavior change and nutrition education. When providing medical nutrition therapy, she considers both individual behavior change and social determinants of health, working collaboratively with other members of a patient’s care team to ensure the whole person is cared for. She honors each person’s values around food and health, taking into consideration that people are the experts on their bodies and that lived experiences are an important part of evidence-based practice.

She takes a pragmatic and joyful approach to food and nutrition, focusing on skill building, stress reduction and mindfulness around meal time. When she is not working, she can be found exploring local parks and trails with her husband and toddler, watching The Great British Bake Off or dancing, singing, listening to podcasts and cooking.
