About

Dr. Eckardt is an obstetrician/gynecologist physician with over 18 years of clinical experience. She completed medical school at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New England Medical Center/ Tufts University. In addition to general obstetrics and gynecology, she has a keen interest in reducing maternal mortality world-wide. She obtained her Master’s in Public Health, specializing in global health, from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Eckardt worked in a large ob/gyn group in southern Massachusetts for several years before returning to academic medicine as faculty at Boston University School of Medicine where she trained future obstetricians and gynecologists, served patients in inner-city health centers in Boston, and worked as the Director of Global Health and the Director Women’s Refugee Health for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Concurrently, she worked with the Division of Global Health and Human Rights at Massachusetts General Hospital on several global health projects in low-income countries in Africa, South America and South Asia focusing on training providers in effective ways to address obstetric emergencies. She is currently the Senior Advisor for Maternal Health Projects in the Division of Global Health Innovation, Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
