From the collegiate to the recreational athlete and weekend warrior, our team has extensive experience in sports medicine. We provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of conditions related to sports injuries or overuse, such as stress fractures, tendonitis and bursitis, and traumatic injuries to tendons and ligaments in all joints, head to toe.
Physiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and treating patients with nerve, muscle and bone injuries. MOA employs two board-certified, Mayo Clinic trained Physiatrists, both with advanced Fellowship training. As physical medicine and rehabilitation experts, Drs. Harrington and McNamara can design treatment plans and use non-surgical treatments, including therapeutic exercise, targeted pharmacologic management, biofeedback, electrotherapies, injections and bracing to help patients return to their sports or daily activities as soon as possible. We strive to be expert musculoskeletal diagnosticians who work side by side with the surgical team so patients are exposed to the full compliment of surgical and non-surgical options.
Surgery is a major step in treating orthopaedic conditions and we take it very seriously. Prior to recommending surgery, we work with our patients and medical team to fully assess the condition. Whenever possible, less invasive means of treatment are considered and followed first.
When surgery is necessary, our team is highly qualified in a wide range of services from minimally-invasive to highly complex surgical procedures. Coupled with excellent post-operative rehabilitation, our orthopaedic patients are more likely to recover faster.
