MCH Celebrates National Nurses Week

Peterborough, NH - The work of America's 2.9 million registered nurses to save lives and to maintain the health of millions of individuals is the focus of this year's National Nurses Week, celebrated annually May 6-12 throughout the United States.

Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. During this week, nurses at Monadnock Community Hospital will be honored. According to Lisa Perales, Director of Nursing at MCH, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìIn the three years I have been at MCH I have come to admire the commitment of our nursing staff to the communities we serve. It is an inspiration to observe their willingness to accept responsibility for the care of patients and for their strong desire to place the patient needs first. Monadnock Community Hospital Nurses are unique in that they truly understand that professionalism begins with an understanding ourselves, and the effect of our behavior on others. In order to better understand themselves, MCH nurses have identified values that bring meaning to each of them in their various departments and have committed to uphold them in everything they do. I am happy to be a part of this purposeful transformation and appreciate the opportunity to publicly acknowledge our nurses for their dedicated efforts to support the ART of CARING.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

Traditionally, National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which nurses, the largest health care profession, are working to improve health care. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health care needs of American society.
