Monadnock Community Hospital Hosts Flag-Signing Ceremony Joins other New Hampshire hospitals to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation.

Peterborough, NH On April 14th, Monadnock Community Hospital will host the New England Organ Banks Donate Life Flag in a signing-ceremony as part of a statewide awareness campaign in support of organ and tissue donation.

The Donate Life Flags Across New Hampshire project will feature the flying of the Donate Life flag successively at 26 New Hampshire hospitals to culminate with a flag raising at the state Capitol later in April. In addition, each hospital CEO will sign the flag with the name of his or her hospital as it tours through the state.

we're honored to be part of this initiative highlighting the importance of organ and tissue donations. By partnering with other hospitals across the state, we hope to raise awareness of this essential program that helps save lives in our local communities," reports Peter Gosline, CEO of Monadnock Community Hospital. Berta Grunbeck, Relations Specialist at the New England Organ Bank Hospital reports, "single organ donor can save up to seven lives and a tissue donor can enhance the lives of over 75 patients. Getting the word out about donation can have incredibly positive results."

In addition to honoring the hundreds of thousands of donors and recipients whose lives have been affected by organ and tissue donation, the project invites the community to register as organ and tissue donors at www.DonateLifeNewEngland.org. Donate Life Flags Across New Hampshire is a companion project of the national Flags Across America that is designed to demonstrate how people in the country have been touched by organ and tissue donation. The national project seeks to have hospitals, organ and tissue recovery organizations, recipients and many others involved in the donation process fly a Donate Life flag at their place of business or home.

There are currently over 105,000 Americans awaiting a life saving organ transplant. On average, 18 patients die every day in the US waiting for a donated organ. More information about donation and an opportunity to register as a donor is available at www.DonateLifeNewEngland.org.
