November 08:
Rumor:
Why are there piles of boulders on the hospital grounds?
Clarification:
At MCH, we are affectionately calling these piles of boulders our “rock nurseries.” These are sizeable rocks that have been uncovered while preparing the parking lots and bringing new water mains onto the hospital grounds. These boulders will be re-used in other areas of the campus. For example, they are currently being placed on the slope near the site of new generator building behind the hospital. Instead of creating a concrete retaining wall, these boulders will naturally protect the slope from erosion. You’ll also see an existing example of this use on the slopes to the right of the Bond Wellness Center.

Rumor:
Directional signs entering and exiting the hospital grounds were removed when construction started.
Clarification:
All of the original directional signs on campus are still in place. However, the construction to create new parking areas has significantly changed the view when entering our campus. Because this can be quite confusing, we have ordered several new directional signs to help patients find their way to the hospital, physician offices, wellness center and emergency department. These will be placed along the entrance road. In addition, flagmen will be present to help direct traffic when needed.
